Greetings Everyone;

Spring is here is here in a glory of fresh colors of daffodils, tulips and Bradford Pear blossoms. New life often brings new challenges. And I'm sure everyone has heard of the record-breaking count of pollen in the air this beauty brings, and many are trying to cope with the symptoms of allergies.

I am showing people how to deal with all allergies naturally at my office on Thursday, April 29th 7-9pm. All the drugs you see advertised on tv suppress the symptoms. These symptoms are the body's way of trying to expell the irritants. When we stop the body's efforts, the irritants are free to invade, actually making us sicker. What can we do to stop the cycle? I'm excited to share what we've learned about dealing with allergies natually. At the Backbone of Health Clinic, we have helped many people who have suffered from food, animal and environmental allergies live much happier lives. I'd love to help you too. All are welcome to come, 4015 Medina Rd, Suite 90, Medina OH 44256. Just give a call 330.764.3434 to save a chair.

NSAIDS

Serious NSAIDs

In a recent New England Journal of Medicine article, researchers disclosed that the adverse effects of using NSAIDs (Non Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs) like aspirin, ibuprofen and others, can include stomach bleeding, ulcers and, in some cases, death.

Millions take NSAIDs without much thought. However, research has shown that bleeding and ulcers occur half the time... often, with no symptoms. Among the people who develop serious bleeding from NSAIDs and require visits to the hospital, 10 to 15% will die. In fact, 2,000 people in the United Kingdom die each year from gastro-duodenal lesions from taking NSAIDs.

These drugs simply cover up your body's warning signs and fool the body. Every day we help locate and reduce the underlying cause of many types of health problems. Is it time for a chiropractic checkup for you, or someone you know, who thoughtlessly reaches into the medicine cabinet?

Acid Reflux and Neck Pain

It should be no small wonder that doctors who examine patients with chronic neck pain also may find acid reflux. Are these related symptoms? Some doctors think so...

Applied Kinesiologists are doctors trained to detect such relationships in the body. A frequent occurrence of neck pain may not just be a neck pain, according to chiropractors, medical doctors, or osteopaths trained in Applied Kinesiology (AK) evaluation.

Patients often relate to "sleeping wrong" or "sleeping in a funny position". If only the body were so simple, a person could just stop that activity. Fortunately, AK doctors are educated in the intricacies of the body from a holistic perspective, or looking at the entire body as one functioning unit. Shouldn't all doctors? After all, the entire body is all connected.

This discussion will cover a very common cause for neck pain- a Hiatal Hernia, or Hiatus Hernia. This is not the normal type of hernia, nor is surgery recommended. A hiatal hernia is a condition where the highest portion of the stomach has been pushed into a small opening (hiatus) of a muscle, called the diaphragm.

A myriad of symptoms can occur due to a hiatal hernia, such as headache, migraines, dysphagia, difficulty swallowing food or pills, neck pain, frozen shoulder or neck, acid reflux, heartburn, TMJ, and indigestion. The most common symptom is neck pain due to the mechanical connection between the stomach, esophagus, and neck muscles.

Chiropractic is an effective method of correcting both the neck dysfunction and stomach dysfunction , at the same time. Hiatal hernia is not always a surgical case. In fact, it is a routine procedure in most Applied Kinesiology-based practices. Patients are able to be treated in a comfortable manner without the use of drugs and surgery. Applied Kinesiology doctors have been taught to release a hiatal hernia manually, with minimal discomfort.
